Must-Have:
Previous travel experience.
Experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry, Critical Drips, and Trach Care is required.
Strong cardiac background is preferred.


Description:
Unit consists of 32 beds.
Nurse to patient ratio is 1:6.
Common diagnoses include respiratory issues and medical conditions.
Patients are adults and geriatrics.
Experience with trachs (not vented) is required.
Must be able to titrate drips.
Common titratable or set rate drips include Heparin, Cardizem (up to 15mg/hr), Lasix, Dopamine (low dose renal perfusion), and Amiodarone.
Monitor techs are available 24/7.
Charge RNs read strips, but RNs are required to review strips each shift.
Charge nurse will have a modified patient assignment, usually managing 2 patients.
If staffing allows, travelers may be free charge.
Travelers may be asked to fill in the Charge Nurse role and could be cross-trained.
Nurse aides are available: 1:10 ratio from 7 am to 7 pm and 1:15 ratio from 7 pm to 7 am.
Available respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and trachs (only on trach collar or room air).
Registered nurses perform trach care; respiratory therapy maintains vents.
IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and pulse oximetry are available.
Shifts are scheduled from 6:45 am to 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.
The director or floor manager will handle scheduling, taking requests into account.
Every other weekend is required, with set rotation.
Rotational holiday scheduling will consider previous year's worked holidays, allowing for preference.
If not needed, nurses may be required to float to other units or departments for patient care.
Navy scrubs required for RNs and LPNs; solid dark grey/pewter for C.N.As and monitor techs.
Scrubs must be solid colors without embroidery or patterns.
Fleece zip-ups may be worn in solid grey, black, navy, or royal blue.
Solid undershirts must match the scrub top in white, grey, or black.
Closed-toe shoes only are allowed; no crocs.
Initial skills checklist is due 90 days from the start date.
Charting system used is EPIC.
