POSITION: CookDEPARTMENT: Food & BeverageREPORTS TO: Executive Chef & Sous ChefFLSA STATUS: Part-time Hourly, Non-ExemptSummaryASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Cook position with ASM Global/Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Cook is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef by maintaining the highest level of food quality, presentation and timing. This position also assists in preparing for the day to day operations of the kitchen. Serves meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining and cooking ingredients; in addition to, maintaining a sanitary kitchen.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)Prep ingredients for cooking (chopping, peeling vegetables, cutting meats, etc.)Basic understanding of food ingredientsHave a basic understanding of how to read and execute a recipeMaking precise measurementsEnsure all food and other items are stored properly with receive datesProper handling of raw and/or prepared foods and non-food suppliesTesting the temperature of food and knowledge of proper cooking temperaturesDistribute and store clean pots, dishes and utensilsWashing dishes and taking out trashMust adhere to the ASM Global dress code which includes wearing black pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoesComply with outlined safety regulations and proceduresQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageCulinary certification or degree from a culinary school preferred, but not requiredFood Handlers Permit Required in accordance with the Lincoln-Lancaster Health DepartmentServSafe Certification preferred, but not required1-3 years food service or restaurant experience requiredSkills and AbilitiesBasic working knowledge of food and beverageAbility to work in a teamAbility to follow oral and written instructions and effectively perform the workFundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygienePositive attitude and neat appearanceEnglish preferred as primary language, but not requiredMust be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shiftWorking ConditionsWorking conditions involve noise, heat, changes in temperature, kitchen elements, odors, moisture, etc.May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the work load and staffingMust be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidaysPhysical DemandsRequires moderate physical efforts.
