Director of Nursing (DON)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for nursing operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and best practices to support clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Lead short- and long-term planning initiatives for nursing services, staffing, quality improvement, and resident care outcomes.
- Ensure nursing interventions are individualized to meet each resident’s physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and quality of life.
- Participate in resident admission and care planning processes to assess clinical appropriateness and ensure resident needs can be effectively supported.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or related healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing direct patient/resident care and leading multidisciplinary nursing teams.
- Strong knowledge of clinical operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and resident-centered care practices.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
