Position – Human Resources Specialist
Florida State Guard – Tallahassee, Florida

Status - Full-Time, $25 - $28 per hour Depending on Experience

The Florida State Guard, through KeyStaff, Inc., is seeking a motivated and experienced Human Resources Specialist to join its team in Tallahassee, Florida. Position Summary -

The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for supporting a variety of human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, personnel administration, compliance, recruiting events, onboarding of personnel and HR record management. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the organization adheres to federal, state, and organizational human resources policies and mandates while providing outstanding service to employees and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

• Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates.
• Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.
• Prepare and maintain personnel records, employment documents, and confidential employee files.
• Assist with new employee orientation and onboarding activities.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Maintain knowledge of current human resources procedures, mandates, and best practices.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, leave, and employment procedures.
• Assist with employee relations matters while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Process personnel actions, employment verifications, and other HR documentation.
• Maintain accurate HR databases and generate reports as needed.
• Support performance management initiatives and employee development programs.
• Assist with policy implementation and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
• Perform other administrative and human resources duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications -

• Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred (equivalent work experience can be considered).
• Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience.
• Experience with full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition.
• Working knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, employment laws, and HR compliance requirements.
• Experience maintaining confidential personnel records.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR information systems.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications -

• Experience working in government, military, or public sector environments.
• Knowledge of veterans' employment initiatives and military personnel practices.
• HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is a plus.

Requirements -

• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Work Schedule -

• Full-Time
• Monday through Friday
• Standard business hours (subject to operational needs)
