Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a talented and motivated Civil Roadway/Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team in Tampa, Florida. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects for clients including FDOT, local governments, toll authorities, and other public agencies.The Civil Engineer II will support project managers and senior engineers in developing roadway, pavement, drainage, maintenance of traffic (MOT), signing and pavement marking, and ADA-compliance improvements. The position offers opportunities to work on complex transportation projects while further developing technical expertise and progressing toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare roadway design plans, profiles, typical sections, and cross sections using OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses for transportation projects.Develop pavement evaluation reports and rehabilitation recommendations.Assist in the preparation of roadway design reports, engineering studies, and technical documentation.Design signing and pavement marking plans in accordance with MUTCD and agency standards.Prepare ADA compliant pedestrian facility improvements, including curb ramps, sidewalks, and crosswalks.Support maintenance of traffic (MOT) and traffic control plan development.Perform quantity calculations and assist with cost estimating.Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structures, traffic engineering, survey, environmental, and utility disciplines.Participate in field reviews, site visits, and construction support activities.Support quality control reviews and implementation of company design standards.Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and project stakeholders.Technical SkillsRoadway designPavement engineeringTransportation corridor modelingHorizontal and vertical alignment developmentMaintenance of traffic designADA complianceSigning and pavement markingQuantity calculationsCost estimatingEngineering report preparationMultidisciplinary project coordinationCareer Growth OpportunitiesThe Civil Engineer II position provides opportunities to:Lead design tasks on increasingly complex transportation projects.Expand technical expertise in roadway and transportation engineering.Prepare for and obtain Professional Engineer licensure.Develop project management and client-facing experience.Advance into senior engineering and project leadership roles.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus 2 years of transportation engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification.Demonstrated experience with roadway design and plan production.Demonstrated proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.Preferred QualificationsExperience with DOT, municipal, county, or toll-road transportation projects.Experience preparing:Roadway design plansPavement design and rehabilitation recommendationsMaintenance of Traffic (MOT) plansSigning and pavement marking plansADA compliance improvementsFamiliarity with AASHTO and MUTCD design standards.Experience with ProjectWise and transportation design workflows.Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SignCAD, Synchro, or related transportation software.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Additional InformationSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.Hybrid work location model Collaborative A/E office environment Relocation is not available for this positionAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
