Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group in labor and delivery, following established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications and therapies as prescribed, and respond promptly to changes in clinical condition.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff; coordinate care with obstetric, anesthesia, neonatal, and allied disciplines.
- Utilize critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent decision-making to plan and deliver safe, high-quality care.
- Document assessment findings, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record; ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Adhere to unit policies, participate in handoffs, and support a collaborative environment to optimize patient outcomes.
