Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our clinical support team on a full-time temporary basis. This role is integral in providing coverage for an employee on FMLA leave within a well-regarded internal medicine and family practice. The position promises a steady patient flow and a supportive clinical environment, ensuring efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers during patient visits in an internal medicine/family practice setting.

• Collect and process urine samples and prepare specimens using standard test panels.

• Perform or assist with blood draws, utilizing onsite phlebotomy support.

• Prepare specimens accurately, ensuring proper tube selection for a diverse patient population, including adults and those with a history of substance use disorder.

• Maintain professionalism, compassion, and discretion when dealing with sensitive patient populations.

• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and office procedures.

Essential Skills

• Experience in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques, including the use of straight needles.

• Attention to detail and a strong focus on lab handling and specimen preparation.

• Ability to maintain a professional, nonjudgmental approach to patient care.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in internal medicine, family practice, or primary care is preferred.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

• Reliable and dependable, particularly given the temporary coverage requirement.

Work Environment

The work environment is team-oriented with clear workflows and expectations. The office is smaller in size, fostering a close-knit team atmosphere. Onsite phlebotomy services are provided, and the practice is located adjacent to a methadone clinic, serving a unique and diverse community. The staff is described as super sweet, and the patient volume is manageable. Professional attire is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elizabeth City, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
