The Arkansas State Bank Department is a division of the Arkansas Department of Commerce. This Bank Examiner position is responsible for performing examinations of state-chartered Trust Departments and Trust Companies. This position works under immediate supervision and is responsible for analyzing or reviewing trust Department accounts, investments, the Annual Report of Trust Assets and policies and procedures.
The Bank Department's main office is located in Little Rock, AR. Additionally, the Bank Department operates satellite offices in both Springdale, AR, and Jonesboro, AR.
This position will be assigned to the Bank Department office located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Frequent in-state overnight travel is required.

Job Summary
The Bank Examiner II is responsible for evaluating the financial health, compliance, and operational soundness of banks and other financial institutions throughout Arkansas. This role involves conducting audits, analyzing financial statements, and ensuring adherence to pre-determined federal and state banking regulations. The Bank Examiner II plays a critical role in maintaining the stability of the financial system by identifying risks, recommending corrective actions, and safeguarding consumer interests.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct on-site and off-site examinations of financial institutions to assess their financial condition, risk management practices, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Analyze financial statements, loan portfolios, and operational processes to identify potential risks or irregularities. Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and governance structures within financial institutions. Prepare detailed examination reports, summarizing findings and providing recommendations for corrective actions. Collaborate with bank managerial personnel to address identified issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor industry trends and emerging risks to provide proactive oversight and guidance. Participate in training programs to stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices in bank supervision.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and financial principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with bank managerial personnel and regulatory personnel. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to travel routinely for on-site examinations and training.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a related field. Coursework should include at least 24 semester hours in business-related subjects such as accounting, finance, marketing, economics, mathematics, or statistics, with at least 6 semester hours in accounting. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis, such as reviewing loan applications or analyzing financial data. Specialized experience, such as examining or auditing financial institutions. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or equivalent may substitute for some experience requirements.
