Clinical Psychologist IV

Clinical Psychologist IV (260003QP) Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH), is seeking a full‑time licensed Clinical Psychologist to oversee psychology functions in either of the hospital’s forensic units or one of the continuing care units. Candidates must have at least three years of post‑licensure experience and one or more years of supervisory experience. Duties and Responsibilities Practice individual and group psychotherapy. Facilitate community meetings. Develop treatment plans within a multidisciplinary team. Conduct specialized risk assessments for suicide, fire setting, violence, substance abuse, and refer to appropriate forensic evaluation teams. Assist treatment teams in understanding and following DMH’s Inpatient Clinical Risk policy. Track patients’ forensic status and coordinate assessments to support transition through privilege levels leading to discharge. Complete crisis and acute risk consultations and psychological testing. Conduct Positive Behavior Support (PBS) patient evaluations and consult with teams. Supervise upper‑level psychology students (interns and/or post‑docs) and/or staff. Serve as a leader on at least one hospital‑wide committee. Preferred Qualifications Proficient in diagnosing and assessing mental and emotional disorders, including risk assessment techniques. Skilled in utilizing interviews, psychological testing, and neuropsychological screening. Capable of analyzing data from history, observation, interviews, and tests to draw conclusions and make informed recommendations. Knowledgeable in psychotherapy theory, principles, and evidence‑based practices. Experienced in applying motivation principles, behavioral analysis, and reinforcement techniques. Adept at report writing and maintaining accurate, confidential records. Familiar with statistical methods, including sampling. Effective communicator providing consultation, training, and supervision. Able to make quick, calm decisions in crisis situations involving emotionally or physically stressed individuals. Collaborative team player who can supervise unlicensed staff and trainees. Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Fluency in a second language is preferred. Minimum Entrance Requirements Doctorate in Psychology from an APA‑accredited program. At least three years of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) professional experience as a Licensed Psychologist in a recognized agency. At least one year of supervised experience with post‑doctoral psychologists or psychological assistants. Current and valid registration by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology. Eligibility for Designated Forensic Psychologist status (104 CMR 33.04(3)(b)) when assigned to forensic units. Valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s license if travel is required. Salary and Benefits Annual salary range: $101,581.48 – $169,508.04, based on experience and education.
