Respiratory Therapist, Per Diem

Position Overview Exemption Status: Non‑Exempt Hiring Range: $28.39 – $51.11 (salary may vary by experience, skills, and internal equity) Schedule: Monday through Friday; weekends (Saturday and Sunday) Shift: 4‑hour mixed shift, 12 hours (United States of America) Key Responsibilities The therapist is expected to perform all modes of respiratory care as defined in the department policy and procedure manual. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Delivery of small volume nebulizers, drawing of arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways, and mechanical ventilation. Providing respiratory therapies to all age groups ranging from perinatal to geriatric. Demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Appropriately documenting all care activity and charges in the hospital EMR system. Participating in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities. Using and maintaining arterial blood gas machines competently. Setting up and utilizing mechanical ventilators, V60 NIPPV, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy systems. Disinfecting, transporting, and setting up all non‑disposable equipment. Adhering to the Hospital’s Standards of Behavior. Completing all hospital and department annual competencies. Complying with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Attending required meetings, conferences, and seminars. Applying Quality Improvement principles in daily operations. Complying with health and safety regulations and requirements. Respecting diverse views and contributing to a professional, tolerant, and inclusive environment. Maintaining regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. Performing other related duties as required or directed. Qualifications Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Respiratory Care. Licensed in the state of Massachusetts in respiratory care. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (BLSHP). Maintenance of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in accordance with Massachusetts licensure regulation. Equivalent education and experience may substitute for the required credentials if they provide equivalent proficiency. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions On‑the‑job activities include: Standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3, sitting 1/3. Talking or hearing 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. Using hands to finger, handle, or feel 1/3 of the time. Push/pull 1/3 to 2/3, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling 1/3, and reaching with hands and arms 2/3. Weight lifting up to 10 lb (1/3), 25 lb (1/3), 50 lb (1/3), 100 lb (1/3), and more than 100 lb (1/3). Exposure to moving mechanical parts (1/3), fumes or airborne particles (2/3), and toxic or caustic chemicals up to 1/3.
