Bloodwork's is hiring a Clinical Nurse Educator for a position offeringabout 20 hours per week. In this role, you will provide clinical expertise and education to medical and nursing staff involved in collecting cord blood donations in hospitals, as well as to Bloodwork's staff. You will also help grow the Cord Blood program, develop customer relations, and promote and support cord blood donor recruitment. Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to, as a Bloodwork's lead-level employee: Develop, deliver, and maintain training that accommodates diverse learning styles and delivery methods (e.g., classroom, online). Assess the Cord Blood program's training needs for internal staff and external nursing and medical staff at partner hospitals and medical centers. Develop, deliver, and maintain the donor coordinator and collector competency assessment programs. Ensure training and competency assessment programs meet all applicable regulatory and infrastructure requirements. Provide consultation and expertise to internal staff and external nursing and medical staff in our partner hospitals and medical centers. Act as the first point of contact and liaison with all external customers and collector partners. Participate in audits, site visits, and other regulatory events as required. Assist in determining and collecting useful metrics and other reporting data related to training activities, competency, and collections. Ensure compliance with contracts and letters of agreement for the collection of umbilical cord blood units. Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures. Must maintain an active Washington State Registered Nurse License. Help develop and conduct educational presentations for potential donors and the public, and in-services for professional staff working with expectant parents to promote cord blood donation. Assist in developing, delivering, and maintaining the collector's annual training programs. Provide information on cord blood options to potential participants; recruit and interview potential donors; obtain informed consent; perform donor screenings; collect data; and compile charts. Initiate and assist in the development and implementation of donor recruitment initiatives, with an emphasis on minority donor recruitment. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current status as a registered nurse (State of Washington), plus a bachelor's degree in science, health-related field, or education. Prior experience in OB/GYN practice and blood or tissue banking is desirable. SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS include, but are not limited to: Demonstrated expertise in training adult learners, preferably in a healthcare setting. Reading and writing Spanish is desirable. Familiarity within racial minority communities is highly desirable. Outstanding professional writing skills, with public speaking abilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position will require frequent regional travel. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and holidays, and attend early morning and evening meetings. To access certain facilities, the incumbent may be required to obtain credentialing as defined by the client. This may include additional background checks, immunizations, drug tests, and other requirements. This position has direct exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
