The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with strong private credit domain expertise to work at the intersection of institutional clients, financial markets, and cutting-edge AI technology. This is a highly visible, client-facing role for someone who understands how private credit investment teams operate, can identify opportunities to improve their workflows, and can translate complex business challenges into innovative technology solutions. You will work directly with investment professionals, credit analysts, portfolio managers, legal teams, and operations leaders at leading private capital firms to understand their business needs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.

A central part of the role involves partnering closely with Alphastream's engineering and data science teams to conceptualize, design, develop, and deliver industry-leading solutions that address complex challenges across the private credit investment lifecycle. You will also play an important role in developing and enhancing Alphastream's private credit taxonomies and data frameworks, ensuring that complex financial and legal concepts are accurately represented, standardized, and operationalized within our AI-powered platform.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Business Solutions

• Serve as a trusted domain expert to leading private credit managers, engaging directly with investment, legal, portfolio management, and operations teams.
• Develop a deep understanding of clients' investment processes, data requirements, existing workflows, and operational challenges.
• Lead client discovery sessions and workshops to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and AI-driven solutions.
• Work collaboratively with clients to conceptualize solutions that address complex business challenges and deliver measurable value.
• Translate business needs into clearly defined use cases, functional requirements, business rules, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
• Support proof-of-concept engagements, product demonstrations, solution validation, and client adoption.

Solution Development & Engineering Collaboration

• Partner closely with engineering and data science teams to design and build innovative, industry-leading private credit solutions.
• Translate complex financial concepts, investment processes, and documentation requirements into actionable specifications for technical teams.
• Provide domain expertise to guide the development of AI models, document intelligence capabilities, structured data extraction, analytical tools, and intelligent workflows.
• Work iteratively with engineers and data scientists to evaluate solution approaches, refine functionality, and improve the quality of outputs.
• Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to operationalize private credit taxonomies within AI models, data extraction pipelines, validation frameworks, and downstream analytical workflows.
• Assess the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and business relevance of AI-generated outputs, identify gaps, and work with technical teams to address them.
• Help design scalable, reusable solutions that address common challenges across institutional clients rather than isolated client-specific requirements.
• Participate actively throughout the development lifecycle—from initial concept and solution design through testing, validation, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to leverage emerging AI technologies to enhance existing capabilities and solve previously difficult or manual business problems.

Private Credit Domain Expertise & Taxonomy Development

• Provide subject matter expertise across the private credit lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, structuring, execution, portfolio monitoring, and investment operations.
• Apply a strong understanding of credit agreements, loan terms, financial covenants, debt structures, borrower financials, and investment documentation.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance comprehensive private credit taxonomies, covering financial and legal data points, credit agreement terms, covenant structures, and other investment-related attributes.
• Define standardized data definitions, classifications, relationships, and business rules to ensure consistency and accuracy across document types, transactions, and clients.
• Continuously evolve taxonomies to incorporate new deal structures, market conventions, client requirements, and emerging use cases.
• Analyze complex financial and legal documentation to identify relevant data points, relationships, calculations, and analytical requirements.
• Ensure solutions accurately reflect the nuances of private credit transactions and the practical needs of investment professionals.
• Stay current with evolving private credit market practices, documentation standards, and industry developments.

Product Enhancement & Innovation

• Bring client feedback, market insights, and domain expertise into the ongoing development and enhancement of Alphastream's platform.
• Identify common requirements and emerging needs across client engagements that can be addressed through reusable product capabilities.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to evaluate new features and improve existing solutions.
• Help ensure Alphastream's solutions remain differentiated, innovative, and aligned with evolving institutional client needs.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• 3+ years of relevant experience in private credit, direct lending, leveraged finance, structured credit, or financial technology serving these markets.
• Strong understanding of private credit investment processes, including credit analysis, deal structuring, documentation, and portfolio monitoring.
• Practical familiarity with credit agreements, loan documentation, financial statements, covenants, and debt structures.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with institutional clients or business stakeholders, understand complex challenges, and develop effective solutions.
• Experience working with engineering, data science, or technology teams to design, develop, or enhance financial applications or data-driven solutions.
• Ability to translate complex financial concepts and business processes into clear, actionable specifications for technical teams.
• Ability to analyze complex private credit documentation and translate financial and legal concepts into structured taxonomies, standardized data definitions, and business rules.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate data quality, investigate discrepancies, define business rules, and validate solution outputs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and collaborate effectively across business and technical disciplines.

Preferred

• Experience at a leading private credit manager, alternative asset manager, investment bank, or specialized financial technology provider.
• Prior experience in business analysis, solutions consulting, product development, or technology transformation within financial services.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications, large language models, document intelligence, workflow automation, and structured financial data platforms.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists on AI model evaluation, validation, or performance improvement.
• Experience developing or maintaining financial data taxonomies, data dictionaries, or standardized financial data models.
• Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, data models, or analytical tools; hands-on programming experience is a plus but not required.
• Understanding of institutional asset management systems and front-office, middle-office, and back-office workflows.
