Dem-Con Metals Truck Driver

The Dem-Con Metals truck driver position is responsible for driving Roll Off trucks, tractor-trailers, lugger truck and or dock truck for collection services to ensure our customers' expectations are met in transporting or disposing various metals to the appropriate location.

Essential functions include:

• Operating heavy duty commercial trucks and tractor-trailers
• Performing required pre-trip & post trip inspections and providing required reports
• Providing outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
• Maintaining all required certifications required by DOT
• Adhering to all OSHA and company safety programs
• Maintaining and protecting all property
• Informing on-duty mechanic of any maintenance issues with equipment and/or vehicles
• Maintaining various records and/or logs as needed per DOT regulations
• Fueling truck at the end of each workday
• Aiding in keeping Customer location and/or facility clean by picking up litter around site
• Communicating effectively with management, dispatch and all division employees
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Work conditions include:

Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy trucks and machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
