Forklift Operator

This role operates traditional stand-up and sit-down forklifts in a warehouse and manufacturing environment to safely move, load, unload, and stage pallets. The position also uses scanners and computer systems to track inventory in and out of the facility while supporting general warehouse tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate traditional stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
• Handle pallets by stacking, loading, unloading, and staging materials according to established procedures.
• Use RF scanners and computer systems to scan inventory in and out, ensuring accurate and timely inventory tracking.
• Support shipping and receiving activities, including moving materials to and from designated areas.
• Operate an electric pallet jack as needed to move materials within the facility.
• Follow all safety guidelines and complete a 2-hour paid safety training before starting regular duties.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, cleaning, and organizing materials as needed.
• Communicate effectively in more than one language to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with additional warehouse tasks and cross-functional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of experience operating either a sit-down or traditional stand-up forklift in a warehouse environment.
• Proficiency operating traditional stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely.
• Ability to use RF scanners to scan inventory in and out.
• Ability to use computer systems for basic inventory and shipping transactions.
• Experience handling pallets, including stacking, loading, unloading, and staging.
• Ability to operate an electric pallet jack.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Comfort performing general warehouse duties such as sweeping, cleaning, and organizing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift certification for traditional stand-up or sit-down forklifts is preferred.
• Previous inventory experience is a plus.
• Shipping and receiving experience is a plus.
• Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing facility.
• Willingness to perform other tasks as needed to support operations.

Work Environment

This position works within a manufacturing facility and warehouse setting, operating traditional stand-up and sit-down forklifts, electric pallet jacks, RF scanners, and computer systems. The role follows a second-shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Before starting, you complete a 2-hour paid safety training to ensure you understand all safety protocols and procedures. The environment involves active material handling, pallet movement, and general warehouse housekeeping tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bayonne, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $19.50/hr.
