Compensation

$19.25/hour (DOE). This is a part-time position of up to 29 hours/week.

Position Summary

Community Action Services and Food Bank (CASFB) is dedicated to fostering self-reliance for individuals, families, and the community. The Food Bank Truck Driver supports Food Bank operations by safely transporting donated food and other products between grocery stores, food drives, community partners, and CASFB facilities.

Reporting to the Utah County Food Programs Manager, this position is responsible for completing assigned pickup and delivery routes, safely loading and unloading products, maintaining accurate transportation and donation records, and helping ensure vehicles and work areas remain clean, organized, and safe. The Food Bank Truck Driver regularly interacts with donors, store personnel, volunteers, community partners, clients, and staff and represents CASFB in a professional and courteous manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Transportation & Delivery Operations

• Drives CASFB vehicles to complete assigned food pickup and delivery routes, including grocery store donations, food drives, Warming Center supplies, LFPA food products, and other Food Bank transportation needs.
• Safely loads, transports, and unloads donated food and other products.
• Obeys all traffic laws and operates agency vehicles in a safe, responsible, and courteous manner.
• Maintains a valid driver's license and required DOT medical card.
• Conducts routine vehicle checks and promptly reports vehicle maintenance or safety concerns.
• Helps ensure assigned vehicles are clean, properly serviced, organized, and safe for operation.
• Supports food drives and special transportation assignments as directed.

Donation, Inventory & Documentation Support

• Receives and handles donated products responsibly and in accordance with CASFB procedures.
• Maintains accurate documentation related to donations, distributions, mileage, discards, and other required transportation or Food Bank records.
• Completes and submits required documentation, including timesheets, mileage records, and other assigned reports, in a timely manner.
• Performs basic computer operations necessary for recordkeeping and Food Bank operations.
• Handles donated products with honesty, care, and accountability.

Donor, Volunteer & Community Support

• Greets and assists donors and volunteers at the warehouse and other pickup or delivery locations as needed.
• Maintains positive and professional relationships with grocery store personnel, school officials, volunteers, donors, clients, staff, community partners, and administrators.
• Represents CASFB professionally and courteously while completing routes and interacting with the community.
• Works collaboratively with Food Bank staff and volunteers to support smooth and efficient operations.

Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance

• Works in accordance with all CASFB policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Maintains clean, organized, safe, and clutter-free vehicles and work areas.
• Safely operates material-handling equipment as authorized and maintains or obtains required forklift certification.
• Performs routine facility and grounds support as needed, including sidewalk and snow removal, trash removal, yard work, and parking lot cleanup.
• Identifies and reports safety concerns, vehicle issues, or operational problems to the appropriate supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities

• Supports Food Bank operations, food drives, cross-departmental transportation needs, and special events as directed.
• Works occasional evenings or weekends when operational needs require.
• Accepts additional assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Utah driv r's license and a driving record that meets CASFB requirements.
• Current DOT medical card or ability to obtain and maintain one as required for the position.
• Ability to safely operate assigned agency vehicles. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds; regularly lifts 40--60 pounds.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with donors, volunteers, community partners, clients, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Ability to problem-solve and remain effective in demanding, stressful, or high-volume situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions.
• Dependable, motivated, self-directed, organized, and flexible.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and complete basic computer tasks.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
• Reliable personal transportation is required.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
