Location: Tacoma, WA
Duration: Contract (3-6 months, with potential extension)
Schedule: Full-time, on-site

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations for a fast-paced organization in Tacoma. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in manufacturing, industrial, marine terminal, or unionized environments who can step in and provide immediate impact across employee relations, compliance, and HR program support.
Key Responsibilities:

• Support full-cycle HR operations including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle management
• Serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and coaching
• Partner with leadership and supervisors in a union environment, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as internal policies and safety regulations
• Assist with performance management processes, documentation, and disciplinary actions
• Maintain accurate HR records and support HRIS updates and reporting
• Coordinate and support leave administration, benefits inquiries, and policy interpretation
• Collaborate with operations leadership in a high-volume, labor-driven setting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  OR equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of HR management/generalist experience
• Prior HR experience in manufacturing, industrial, marine terminal, or union environments required
• Strong knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, compliance, and investigations
• SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting unionized workforces (e.g., dockworkers, production teams, logistics operations)
• Exposure to safety-focused environments and regulatory compliance (OSHA, etc.)
• Proven ability to partner with leadership in operational settings

Pay Details: $33.00 to $40.00 per hour
