Job Description Position Summary: Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Integrated AdvisingCollaborative (IAC) Student Success Advisors (SSAs) are key membersof a coordinated, student-centered advising team. SSAs partnerclosely with Co-op & Career Advisors (CCAs) and FacultyAdvisors (FAs) to provide proactive, holistic support that connectsacademic planning, personal development, and career readinessthroughout the student lifecycle. Student Success Advisors serve as the primary point of contact foracademic planning and progression, helping students develop clear,achievable pathways to graduation. Through a developmental advisingphilosophy, SSAs empower students to make informed decisions, buildself-advocacy skills, and connect their academic experience tolong-term goals. As part of the IAC model, Student Success Advisors contribute to ashared advising structure that ensures coordinated communication,timely interventions, and a seamless student experience frommatriculation through graduation. Responsibilities: Academic Advising & Coaching: Provide individualized and group advising on academic planning,degree requirements, policies, and registration. Support students in developing and maintaining academic plansaligned with timely graduation. Coach students in study skills, time management,decision-making, and self-advocacy. Assist students in navigating transitions, including first-yearadjustment, major exploration, and academic challenges. Student Success & Case Management: Monitor academic progress and identify students in need ofadditional support. Provide outreach in response to alerts, progress reports, andadvising triggers. Support students on academic probation through structuredintervention plans and ongoing coaching. Connect students with campus resources including tutoring,accessibility services, and wellness support. Student Engagement Across the Lifecycle: First Year: Support transition, academic onboarding, and earlyengagement. Second Year: Guide academic planning and readiness for co-oppreparation. Third Year: Support academic progression during co-opparticipation and course sequencing. Fourth Year: Ensure degree completion and supportpost-graduation planning. Integrated Advising Collaboration: Collaborate with CCAs and Faculty Advisors to delivercoordinated, holistic student support. Participate in joint advising meetings, case reviews, andshared success planning. Maintain shared advising notes and contribute to alignedcommunication strategies. Ensure seamless referrals and coordinated handoffs across theadvising team. School & Faculty Partnership: Serve as an integral member of the School Advising Team withinassigned school(s). Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on studentsuccess strategies. Align advising with curriculum requirements and programpathways. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely advising records in institutionalsystems (e.g., Navigate, Banner). Ensure documentation meets institutional standards for qualityand timeliness. Monitor academic standing and progression benchmarks. Professional Development & Continuous Improvement: Participate in required IAC training and professionaldevelopment. Engage in assessment and continuous improvementinitiatives. Stay current on advising practices, student development theory,and institutional systems. Qualifications: Required: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or relatedfield. 2–4 years of experience in academic advising, student support,or related field. Strong communication, organizational, and collaborationskills. Commitment to working with diverse student populations. Preferred: Experience with academic advising technologies (e.g., EABNavigate, Banner) Familiarity with developmental advising and NACADAcompetencies Position Details: At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants forH-1B visas. This is an in-person position with core hours of 8:30 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Specific hours and remote work must be approved byyour supervisor. Occasional weekend hours may be required forSuccess Studio, advising, or university events. The job grade for this position is Grade 5. The expected wage range for this position is between $58,000 and$70,000 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for thisrole.
