Learn more at Job Summary Working as a Sterile Processing Project Specialist - Travel, you will be responsible for directing and leading all aspects of the operational needs of the sterile processing department. You will coordinate department associates’ tasks, assist in staff training and development, serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments, and deliver the highest possible level of service. Key Responsibilities Prioritize, direct, and coordinate functions and activities in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Interpret policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to personnel/nursing and medical staff. Perform duties of Central Supply technician as vital. Prepare work schedules, assign personnel, evaluate work performance, and make recommendations for personnel action. Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Coordinate Central Supply/Services with operating room functions and nursing unit/area functions and other user departments to provide services promptly and efficiently. Sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies; handle and store instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately. Maintain the cleanliness of work areas. Supervise requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuance of professional equipment. Coordinate sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Ensure staff compliance with sterilization techniques, policies, and procedures. Participate in and attend departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs, as appropriate. Prioritize, schedule, assign, and monitor staff work to optimize operational service. Ensure sterilization activities are accurately detailed and assist in maintenance of department records. Preferred Qualifications Equivalent experience to a high school diploma or GED is acceptable; bachelor’s degree preferred. 3 to 5 years of dynamically responsible experience in Central Sterile operations or similar work required. CRCST and CHL or any other applicable sterile processing certification required. Good work ethic, strong drive, and initiative for quality and customer service. Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations with all levels in the organization. Excellent problem‑solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations. Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership; experience managing and training hourly staff. Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions. Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software such as MS Office. Able to travel 100% of the time.
