Position Title Forklift Operator-Shipping Report to Shipping Supervisor Primary function Responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks and staging orders. In the event of absence this position will be covered from the pool of trained, qualified backups. Areas of responsibility Perform a pre inspection of forklift prior to operation. Operate the forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Staging orders from the finished goods cooler to the shipping dock for labeling. Placing finished goods in the cooler from production utilizing FIFO protocol. Visually inspect all pallets as they are wrapped verifying that they have the proper labels and product codes. Visually inspecting all pallets to ensure the pails are properly cleaned for transport. Sorting pallets sent to the finished goods cooler from production. Assuring the proper inventory tags are in place on each pallet. Adhering to FIFO protocol when staging pallets for shipment. Must keep work area clean and free of debris. All other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Must adhere to all safety policies. Must utilize all PPE's Food Safety Responsibility Assure the integrity of each pallet of product to be shipped. Assure that each trailer that is to be loaded is free of anything that would compromise the safety of the product. Monitor all circumstances that could pose a cross contamination risk. What to do if a food safety issue is identified Immediately notify lead person or supervisor. Position Requirements Knowledge, skills, abilities Must pass written driving test and attain a forklift license. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must be able to perform simple math with the use of a calculator. Physical demands 90% of the time will be spent sitting and 10% of the time walking or standing. Some lifting may be required.
