Technical Designer - Women's Activewear & OuterwearNew York, NY (On-site) | Full-TimeThis apparel company, based in New York City, is hiring a Technical Designer to help bring women's activewear and outerwear from concept to production. The role sits at the center of fit, construction, and quality, working directly with Design, Product Development, Production, and manufacturing partners to make sure every garment meets brand standards before it reaches the floor.ScheduleFull-time, on-site in New York, NY.Compensation$90,000 to $115,000 per year.What You'll DoThis role owns the technical documentation that drives production, including tech packs with garment sketches, measurements, grading, construction details, and specifications, along with Bills of Materials, packaging requirements, care and content labels, carton markings, fold and hanger pack instructions, and UPC information. The Technical Designer runs and participates in fit sessions with live models, analyzes fit issues, and gives clear, actionable comments to vendors and internal teams so garments hit the intended fit, function, and construction. This person reviews prototypes, fit samples, and pre production garments alongside pattern makers and manufacturing partners, confirming samples meet standards before they move forward. Throughout the product lifecycle, the Technical Designer flags development and construction challenges early and proposes solutions that balance design intent, manufacturability, and cost, while applying hands on knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, and manufacturing techniques to keep products on track for durability, comfort, and overall quality.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field3 to 5 years of Technical Design experience in the apparel industryExperience with women's apparelProficiency in Adobe Illustrator and CAD softwareStrong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit evaluationStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with vendorsPreferred QualificationsExperience in women's outerwear and/or activewear specificallyExperience managing multiple concurrent development cycles and competing production timelinesStrong analytical and problem solving skills applied to fit and construction issuesCompensation and Benefits$90,000 to $115,000 per year401(k)Health insurancePaid holidays, including select religious holidaysCommuter benefitsTo apply, submit your resume and portfolio for consideration.
