Production Maintenance Lead

Star Industries is seeking a Production Maintenance Lead to oversee the reliability, performance, and upkeep of all production equipment and facility systems within our manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for leading preventive maintenance efforts, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and minimizing production downtime across a wide range of machinery including laser cutting systems, press brakes, plasma tables, saws, welding equipment, robotic welders, forklifts, paint systems, and facility infrastructure such as HVAC. This position will lead daily maintenance operations, supervise and develop a Maintenance Technician, and partner closely with the Operations Manager to ensure equipment uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on experience with industrial equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, and demonstrates working knowledge of complex controls, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and CMMS systems. Success in this role requires a proactive, solutions‑oriented leader who takes ownership of equipment performance, builds strong maintenance systems, and models accountability and teamwork in alignment with The Star Way. Job Responsibilities Lead and perform preventive and predictive maintenance on all production equipment and facility systems. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime. Respond quickly to equipment failures and drive efficient resolutions to restore production operations. Supervise, train, and develop Maintenance Technician to ensure high performance and skill growth. Establish and reinforce maintenance standards, procedures, and best practices. Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules using CMMS. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, uptime, and efficiency. Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions. Support TPM initiatives and drive a culture of proactive maintenance and ownership. Recommend and implement equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements. Work with complex industrial controls, including PLCs, electrical systems, and automated equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot advanced machinery such as Bystronic laser systems, press brakes, and robotic welders. Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment modifications within CMMS. Oversee maintenance of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, compressed air, and building infrastructure. Ensure all tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly maintained and available. Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers as needed. Follow and enforce all safety procedures and promote a Safety‑First culture. Ensure all maintenance work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Partner closely with Operations, Production, and Leadership to align maintenance priorities with production goals. Communicate clearly on equipment status, downtime, and improvement efforts. Model and reinforce The Star Way through accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Job Requirements 5+ years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing complex production equipment. Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience with industrial controls, PLCs and automated equipment. Experience with preventive maintenance programs, TPM, and CMMS systems. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop others. Ability to perform equipment failure analysis and implement corrective actions. Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong communication and organizational skills. Hands‑on, proactive, and result‑driven mindset. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, climb, and/or balance. Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as needed. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Preferred Experience Experience with laser cutting systems (Bystronic or similar), press brakes, and robotic welding systems. Familiarity with fabrication, Mig welding, and metal manufacturing environments. Experience implementing or supporting TPM programs. Experience with CMMS platforms for maintenance tracking and scheduling. Electrical certifications or technical training in industrial maintenance. Experience supporting facility systems including HVAC and building infrastructure. Highly organized, dependable, and detail oriented.
