We at Fairview are looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus!

7A is a 13 bed unit, that serves child and adolescent unit that serve patients between the ages of 10-18 all single occupancy. We provide a lot of options for groups and encourage patients to attend OT, TR and other therapeutic groups. Many of our patients arrive subdued and depressed, while others arrive decompensated and manic. There are strict guidelines on the unit to ensure safety. 7A is a fun place to work and often you will see staff playing in the halls with patients. We also have a strong Unit Council which is led by frontline staff. We currently are working on encouraging more group participation on 7A. We have a lot of creative energy on our units and look for new ways to build better programming that is individualized to the specific needs of our patients.

This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8-hour shifts, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is SEIU benefit eligible.

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the direction of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

• Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:
• Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
• Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan.
• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic interactions and milieu management.
• Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team's mission, goals and plans.
• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
• Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
• Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
• ADLs & Physical Support
• Provide light to medium ADL assistance, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support.
• Assist with supplies, setup, and patient direction regarding basic care routines.
• Provide mobility support appropriate to training (e.g., gait belts, wheelchair assistance).

• 2 years Experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting (NA, NST, PCA, behavioral tech, etc.) AND Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs.
• First aid certification required through the American Heart Association if assigned to work on a chemical dependency unit.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN)

• B.S./B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field.
• Experience in inpatient, ED, behavioral health, EMT/paramedic, emergency medical services or other related higher acuity settings such as a school, residential treatment facility, group home, etc.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
