Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a ME or compact license, at least 2 years of L&D experience, and prior travel assignment history.
Job Details • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM,• 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts,
• Labor & Delivery unit within a high-volume facility performing approximately 1,800 deliveries per year, with 4 scheduled procedural events (C-sections, versions, etc.) daily,
• Unit includes 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, and a PreOp/PACU area within the labor unit,
• On-site OB Triage with 2 additional triage rooms,
• Adjacent 25-bed Postpartum/Antepartum/GYN/Mother-Baby unit - L&D RNs may monitor overflow Antepartum patients,
• Level III NICU on site; facility serves as 1 of only 2 NICUs in Maine, covering a large referral area,
• Rooming-in model for Mother-Baby; L&D and Mother-Baby are physically adjacent but separate locked units,
• Patient population includes PIH, GDM, Pre-Eclampsia, Eclampsia, HELLP, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, multiples, fetal loss, substance use, and cervical ripening cases,
• Patient ratios: Cervical Ripening 1:1-3, Laboring 1:1-3, Active Labor 1:1, Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum up to 3 patients,
• EMR: Cerner with Fetal Link; experience preferred,
• IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; fetal monitoring: Fetal Link (remote at bedside and nurses station),
• Weekend rotation: minimum 4 of every 8 weekend shifts per schedule, shifts may be consecutive,
• No on-call required; optional call shifts may be available,
• Holiday rotation required,
• Floating may occur to Mother-Baby for Antepartum, Postpartum, or occasionally Newborn Nursery support (excluding 24-hour newborn labs), Job Requirements • Active ME or compact RN license required,
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and MOAB,
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required,
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment at a facility of comparable size and acuity,
• Proficiency in Pitocin titration, fetal scalp electrode placement, cervical exams, epidural assistance, insulin drip management, magnesium drip management, shoulder dystocia management, circulating or receiving baby in OR, neonatal resuscitation, IUPC placement and monitoring, newborn care, lactation support, and safe skin-to-skin protocol,
• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start,
• Two professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, or director (charge RN acceptable; peer references not accepted),
• Copies of all certifications required,
• Valid driver's license required,
• Full SSN required,
• Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible for the travel rate; candidates living 100+ miles north may be considered on a case-by-case basis,
• No previous permanent employment at any Northern Light Health Hospital, Additional Information • Responsibilities include managing laboring patients through all stages, circulating or assisting in C-section OR, neonatal resuscitation, and newborn care including lactation support and safe skin-to-skin protocol,
• When mother remains on unit for continuous surveillance (e.g., Mag drip x 24 hrs), L&D RN is responsible for documenting feeds, vitals, and assessments for the newborn,
• Unit support includes 24/7 charge nurse, anesthesia, OB provider on-call, CST, RT, house supervisor, phlebotomist, family medicine residents with attending backup, and certified midwife coverage,
• Unit secretary and Bed Flow Facilitator available on day shift only,
• Orientation consists of 3 days: 1 day with HR/preceptor, 1 day of OR/PACU training, and 1 day with a preceptor on the night shift,
• Navy scrubs are provided on site via a scrub machine (6 credits allotted); worn only while on unit - street clothes worn to and from work,
• Free parking available on site,
• Charge RN experience should be disclosed during the hiring process,
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
