Essential Functions Detain and arrest offenders, complete prisoner processing procedures, and transport persons in custody. Engage with citizens in crime‑reduction efforts through effective communication and problem‑solving initiatives. Execute civil processes and conduct professional radio and telephone communication activities. Write reports, take field notes, prepare narratives, summaries, and criminal case paperwork. Conduct preliminary investigations. Establish, preserve, and protect crime scenes. Conduct interviews. Be a resource to pedestrians and motorists. Administer first aid. Collect and process evidence and lost and found property. Testify truthfully, completely, and honestly in court. Investigate suspicious persons and activity. Conduct legally authorized searches and perform complex investigations. Identify problem‑solving initiatives to address crime‑related issues. Work with other agencies and conduct community surveillance. Engage in self‑initiated patrol and gather intelligence. Process individuals for traffic and criminal offenses. Maintain firearms proficiency and physical fitness required for ULEO1 duties. Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed and may work in inclement weather. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description may be changed at any time. Required Education High School Diploma or GED. Required Trainings/Certifications Certified as an Ohio Peace Officer and possess an OPOTC certificate at the time of application. Current valid state‑issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Pass recruitment testing, including background investigation, physical fitness assessment, psychological assessment, written test, toxicology screening, and medical exam. Physical Agility Assessment An email will be sent to all qualifying applicants with the date and time of the Physical Agility Assessment, the “Medical Release Certification,” and assessment instructions. The assessment will be held at 51 West Corry Boulevard, University Hall, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Applicants must provide an email address that is regularly checked for communication.
