This individual will work from drawings to produce parts from bar stock and castings at a CNC vertical milling machine, or lathe, with little supervision. Core competency: Evaluate overall process for efficiency and make recommendation for improvement opportunities while maintaining minimal machine downtime. Edit programs and set up CNC lathes and machining centers as well as support equipment, as needed in a production environment. Troubleshoot and correct machining problems. Replace assigned tooling as needed (i.e., drills, boring bars, milling tools, etc.). Observe and comply with all Company safety rules and regulations, and report incidents to supervisor and/or manager. Monitors product quality through regular inspection intervals. Must be able to interpret technical drawings and effectively troubleshoot machining issues. Must maintain a satisfactory level of efficiency and quality in work produced. Must demonstrate safety awareness, good workmanship practices, and continuous improvement. Participate in simple machine maintenance as required. Meet outlined production and quality goals while operating equipment when change overs are complete.

Experience with G code programming and ability to optimize existing programs is a plus. Experience in setting up 3- axis CNC mills and lathes in a production environment required. Experience with setup and machining is a plus. Must be familiar with the mechanical function of CNC machines and equipment, to ensure all safety items are in place before operation is started. Required to provide necessary tools to perform job, - i.e. micrometers, calipers, and wrenches. Must maintain a positive, productive relationship with other workers in the department, supervisor, quality inspectors and shipping. The ability to maximize the efficiency of programs to provide greater machine utilization.

Mechanical— Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. English Language— Basic knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words.

Minimum Required Qualifications and Education: Some High School, 6+ months of forklift experience, 1 year general industrial manufacturing/production experience, Able to understand instructions and safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: Vocational or Trade School certificate, Experience working with heavy industry, OSHA compliance training, English proficiency, Able to read and write English, Knowledge of steel fabrication processes, Comfortable working around heavy machinery, open flame and heat, Should be able to work any shift, Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines, Able to work in a demanding face paced environment.

Physical Requirements: The USES category for this position is moderate to heavy. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, as well as talk and hear. Will frequently manipulate parts weighing up to 50 lbs. with the aid of material handling equipment and/or assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Requires manual dexterity and continued use of both hands, use of hand tools, power tools and related equipment. Must be able to bend or twist their body and repeating the same movements during their shift. Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods at a time. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to working plant machinery, overhead machinery and heavy moving parts. Work environment is an indoor industrial manufacturing plant working in close proximity to hot presses, with open gas burners, ovens, and heated steel stock/parts. The temperature in work area can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the work year. Sharp steel filings and shaving can be found in most work areas. Adequate protective gear is required at all times to avoid injury. Moderate-to-high noise is constant throughout the shift.
