Urgent Care Provider

Charter Oak Health Center is seeking a Provider (MD, DO, APRN, or PA) to provide urgent care medical services for the patients of Charter Oak Health Center. Familiar with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Center and work collaboratively to achieve them. Cognizant of, and comply with, all Center policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.

Essential Position Duties

• Manage therapeutic interventions such as medication administration, suturing, splinting and casting, infection control, safety measures, and education to patient and family/significant others.
• Manage all aspects of care for walk-in urgent care clinic patients of all ages.
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families
• Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
• Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
• Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
• Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
• Orders studies, test and ancillary services
• Documents all services in patient medical record
• Consults with Lead Provider and Chief Medical Officer, and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues
• Comply with the Infection Control plan, which includes personally utilizing universal precautions. Ensure compliance by support staff.
• Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements
• Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff
• Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
• Mantains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
• Must maintain appropriate attendance.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.

Compliance Responsibilities

• Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
• Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
• Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance in accordance with COHC Compliance Re porting Process.
• Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
• Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.

QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
• Performs in a tactful and professional manner
• Eligibility for hospital privileges
• Abstinence from drugs

Professional Experience/Educational Requirements

• Medical degree in medicine from an accredited school and licensed to practice in Connecticut
• Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
• Minimum two years of direct work or intern experience

Certification/Licensure

• Current D.E.A. Certificate
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. If Board Eligible at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 3 years of hire date.
• Insurability (malpractice)
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
