NATA Certified Athletic Trainer @ Sparks High School

Position Title: Athletic Trainer – NATA Certified (Sparks High School). Responsibilities Prevention: Advise coaches on flexibility, strengthening, and conditioning programs; educate on fitting and maintenance of protective equipment; apply preventative taping, braces, and pads; monitor and control environmental hazards; identify and correct athlete risk factors. Recognition, Evaluation, Immediate Care: Conduct initial injury evaluation, obtain athlete history, perform special testing (strength, range of motion, stability), determine injury management with physician involvement, and activate EMS if necessary. Rehabilitation and Reconditioning: Evaluate athletes, develop comprehensive rehabilitation programs, administer therapeutic modalities and exercises, record progress, and facilitate return‑to‑competition under physician guidance. Health Care Administration: Maintain medical documentation, coordinate emergency protocols, communicate athlete progress to physicians and staff, and establish relationships with the team physician and community physicians. Professional Development & Responsibility: Attend staff meetings and educational activities, uphold ethical standards, maintain NATA BOC and Nevada State licensure and CPR certification, and complete blood‑borne pathogen training. Athletic Season Coverage: Fall – cover all football practices, home and away games (excluding tournaments). Winter – cover all varsity basketball games, JV and varsity wrestling meets (excluding tournaments), plus one hour of open training-room hours weekdays on non‑game days. Spring – cover all varsity baseball and softball games, JV and varsity track meets (excluding invitational), plus one hour of open training-room hours weekdays on non‑game days. Qualifications & Certifications National Athletic Trainers Association Board Certification (NATA BOC). Valid Nevada State licensure and active membership in NATA, local district, and state association. CPR certification. Experience in injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and sports‑medicine administration. Strong communication skills with coaches and athletes; ability to teach sportsmanship. Benefits & Schedule Annual stipend of $19,400 paid in 10 monthly installments ($1,940 each). 15 hours per week, 10‑month academic year (mid‑August to mid‑May). Release time offered for after‑hours student aide program supervision.
