Butterfly Home Care of Manassas is seeking a patient, dependable, and compassionate caregiver to provide one-on-one support to a school-aged child with autism in the Gainesville/Warrenton area.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, understands the importance of consistency and routine, and wants to help a young person become more independent with everyday activities.

Butterfly Home Care of Manassas is a locally owned and operated, veteran-owned and woman-operated home care organization. We provide person-centered support that focuses on each individual's strengths, preferences, abilities, goals, and independence.

Schedule

Monday through Friday

• Morning: 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM

• Afternoon/Evening: 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM

This position involves a split-shift schedule with consistent weekday hours.

Applicants should be able to reliably commit to the scheduled hours for the assignment.

About the Assignment

The caregiver will provide individualized support with daily routines and activities while encouraging the child to participate and develop greater independence whenever possible.

Support may include:

• Assisting with bathing and personal hygiene

• Helping with dressing and getting ready for the day

• Supporting meals and eating routines

• Assisting with simple meal preparation and cooking

• Helping with age-appropriate household chores

• Encouraging participation in daily routines

• Supporting the development of independent living and self-care skills

• Providing supervision and maintaining a safe environment

• Offering companionship and positive engagement

• Following established routines, preferences, and support strategies

• Providing patient redirection and encouragement when needed

• Following the individual's care or service plan

• Completing required documentation

• Communicating important changes or concerns to the supervisory team

Who We're Looking For

The ideal caregiver for this assignment is calm, dependable, patient, encouraging, and comfortable providing consistent structure and support.

Qualifications include:

• Experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities preferred

• Previous caregiver, Direct Support Professional (DSP), personal care, behavioral support, childcare, or similar experience preferred

• Personal Care Aide (PCA) certification preferred, but not required

• Ability to maintain patience and consistency with daily routines

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to follow written service plans and instructions

• Dependable and able to maintain a consistent weekday schedule

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

• Authorization to work in the United States

• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and employment screenings

• Ability to complete required orientation and training

• Respect for individual choice, privacy, dignity, and family preferences

• Ability to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
