About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel with a focus on Defense Contracts and CUI to serve as a legal expert in U.S. federal government contracting and compliance, particularly within the defense sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with DFARS, DoD contracting, and regulatory frameworks across the full lifecycle of government programs. This role requires the ability to provide practical, risk-based guidance to business stakeholders, advise on a range of contract matters, and support the company's engagement with the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary legal counsel on government contracting matters, providing legal guidance on cybersecurity and data protection requirements, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school, a minimum of 7 years' experience in government contracts and defense compliance, and a strong background in FAR and DFARS. The role demands a candidate with deep expertise in government contracts law, particularly within defense environments, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business guidance. Experience in CMMC, NIST frameworks, and a strong familiarity with DoD contracting are essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing compliance issues, audits, and investigations, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to partner with engineering, operations, and leadership teams. Admission to at least one U.S. state bar is required, with a preference for those who have experience with ITAR and EAR as they relate to defense contracting.
