Medical Laboratory Scientist, Full Time Days, Point of Care, AHMMC

Overview Under supervision of a CLIA General Supervisor (POCT Supervisor), the Medical Lab Scientist will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of patient testing conducted outside the traditional laboratory setting. They will assist with the oversight of the daily operation of the Point of Care Testing program across various clinical departments and offsite practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting patient safety and efficient workflow. Job Responsibilities Specimen Processing and Accessioning: Evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability and accept or reject according to established guidelines, applicable to POCT. Specimen Testing: Follow approved standard operating procedures. Result Reporting: Exercise technical judgment by correlating test results with diagnosis and previous results as applicable. Computer Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in the use of HIS and LIS software systems in all job-related functions. Equipment Operation: Operate, maintain and troubleshoot all technical equipment according to approved standard operating procedures. Quality Control: Follow quality control policies, document all related activities, and maintain records of instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance. Proficiency Testing: Participate in proficiency testing, as assigned, and ensure samples are treated the same as patient samples. Inventory Management: Manage inventory by rotating stock and checking supply expiration dates to ensure availability and compliance. Training: Assist with training of team members and students. Safety: Demonstrate knowledge and practice of all Atlantic Health and department safety procedures. Travel between different sites is required. Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological, OR Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training Foreign education credentials require US equivalency documentation by an AHS approved agency. ASCP, AMT or defined equivalent preferred Desired Skills Organized: Maintains a structured approach to tasks and keeps workspaces orderly.
