RN - ICU (Rotational, 36 hours) Jefferson

Overview ICU: AHN Jefferson Hills ICU is a Silver AACN Beacon awarded 20-bed unit serving a variety of critical care populations. The unit operates under the direction of an intensivist and APP staff 24/7 with telemedicine support through a closed unit model. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership in a professional practice setting; team player who helps others succeed through role modeling and mentoring. Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and skill level of RN, LPN or support staff; performs charge duties such as assigning lunches. Considers maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of interventions, and predictability of outcomes. Provides peers with verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance. Shares knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues, and accepts mistakes of self and others to create a culture where risk taking is safe and expected. Participates on an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care or health services. Promotes patient safety initiatives (e.g., National Patient Safety Goals) and quality initiatives (e.g., EBP population specific). Ensures appropriate order sets are used. Supervises delegates and evaluates assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care plans according to physician, nurse, and hospital policy, including patient and family. Derives culturally and age‑appropriate expected outcomes involving patient, family, and other health care providers. Analyzes health status of individuals and families, comparing data with norms when possible, to determine patient care needs. Assesses patient reports/records for changes in condition, notifies physician and/or supervisor, intervenes appropriately, and documents accordingly. Accepts assignments in areas other than the primary unit and performs duties within individualized competency. Demonstrates commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others; promotes professional advancement through participation in professional organizations; seeks formal and independent learning activities using current research to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills. Participates in systematic peer review and obtains informal feedback on practice from patients, peers, and professional colleagues; identifies areas for improvement. Meets time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy. Continuously evaluates and assesses patient and family satisfaction; participates in department‑specific patient satisfaction initiatives. Promotes compassionate communication that is patient and family centered; assesses and attempts to resolve patient/family concerns. Utilizes effective time‑management skills to complete duties within the established shift. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum: Act34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate; Act33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate; Act73 FBI Fingerprinting; Criminal Background Clearance Certificate. Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi‑state licensure via the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). CPR certification. Preferred: Certification in area of specialty.
