Qualifications Graduation from a program approved by ARDMS. Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 3 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 3 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) obtained within 3 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 3 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 3 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS obtained within 18 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 18 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months. Responsibilities Position patients and use appropriate technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal quality scans, utilizing immobilization techniques when necessary. Transfer and immobilize patients for procedures to ensure optimal quality exams. Operate portable ultrasound equipment for portable procedures across the hospital. Assist physicians by recommending selections for technical factors during procedures. Secure patient history for each procedure to provide the radiologist with pertinent information before interpretation. Work closely with the radiologist to ensure optimal outcomes for each procedure. Maintain positive patient relations and collaborate with staff and other personnel. Maintain annual CPR certification and operate all equipment safely per hospital and departmental policies. Adhere to standard precautions and protect self from bodily fluid exposure. Follow disaster, fire, and evacuation policies and participate in safety initiatives. Attend mandatory in‑services and meetings. Maintain correct patient records and prepare ultrasound rooms with necessary equipment and supplies. Operate hospital information computer systems as required. Document department records such as inventories of supplies and patient statistics. Stay current on ultrasound skills and new developments, providing instruction and assistance as required. Treat all patients and customers with respect and compassion, use appropriate phone etiquette, provide a privacy‑conducive environment, and maintain patient confidentiality per hospital policies. Compensation Hourly rate: $32.70 – $49.05, scaled by qualifications, skills, experience, and training, with opportunities for shift, on‑call, and incentive pay.
