At DGS, we are one team, working together to develop mission solutions – anywhere, anytime.The Carpenter builds, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs manufactured products and construction supply. The Carpenter performs and completes a variety of carpentry tasks in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and company procedures, while adhering to established industry and quality standards, safety regulations, and production requirements. As necessary, the Carpenter performs other trade tasks to support company projects.Duties and Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsRead blueprints, work instructions, and other design documents to determine project requirements.Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials using hand and power tools.Construct and install walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and other structural components using wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.Fit and install windows, door frames, doors, hardware, and interior and exterior trim.Erect and use scaffolding and ladders for performing work at elevated heights.Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and perform repairs as needed.Assist with other day-to-day production activities in other trade areas.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Skills and SpecificationsComprehensive knowledge of carpentry principles, construction and manufacturing methods, and installation techniques.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality workmanship.Demonstrable skill in performing carpentry with a high degree of fit and finish, including in challenging environments.Thorough knowledge of industry safety procedures.Excellent oral communication skills.Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.Ability to follow direction, collaborate effectively, and contribute to team objectives.Ability to manage time effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not require the supervision of direct reports.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in professional office, workshop, production facility, and field environments which include working near moving mechanical parts, non-weather wet or humid conditions, and extreme cold and heat, using tools of the trade and other equipment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. may occur.Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time, on-site, hourly position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on business needs.DGS will pay a one-time, completely discretionary relocation incentive of $5,000.00 for a qualified applicant to relocate to Rome, NY for daily work at the DGS location there. The incentive will be payable once a qualified and selected candidate provides evidence of relocation and is contingent (vests) upon satisfactory completion of one year of misconduct-free employment, otherwise repayment of the incentive is required.
