Behavioral Aide

Paraprofessional
Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
Location: Monterey, California; Onsite - School Setting

Position Summary

As a Paraprofessional, you will provide classroom, behavioral, and personal support services to students across various grade levels within a school setting. This role supports both academic instruction and daily student needs while collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and support teams to maintain a safe and productive learning environment. Responsibilities may vary based on student age, classroom placement, and individualized student needs. Responsibilities

Schedule / Shift

• Shift details: School-day schedule, Monday–Friday
• Hours per week: Full-time and part-time opportunities available
• Contract length: School year, subject to district staffing needs

Key Duties

• Assist classroom teachers with instructional activities for individual students and small groups
• Reinforce lessons, classroom routines, and academic concepts in core subject areas
• Support students with toileting, diapering, feeding, hygiene, mobility, and other daily living tasks as needed
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival and dismissal
• Collect and document student data under the supervision of a BCBA when required by the district
• Prepare classroom materials, perform light clerical duties, and support overall classroom organization
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and support teams to promote student success and safety
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred: Must meet one of the following:
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university
  • Passing score on the California Paraprofessional Exam (ParaPro Assessment)

Licenses & Certifications

• Required: Ability to pass background check and meet district employment requirements

Skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff in a classroom environment
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a student-centered approach
• Comfortable providing toileting, diapering, and other personal care support to students
• Physical ability to assist with lifting, mobility support, and extended periods of standing or movement
