Deburr Operator

The Deburr Operator plays a key role in finishing and preparing precision parts by performing deburring, grinding, sanding, and polishing operations according to detailed work instructions. This is an entry-level, hands-on production role with direct supervision and on-the-job training for a minimum of six months, offering the opportunity to learn specialized shop equipment and develop foundational manufacturing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of deburring and finishing tasks under direct supervision and with structured on-the-job training for at least six months.
• Complete deburr operations in accordance with work order requirements, job travelers, and specific callouts.
• Follow detailed work instructions and accurately complete all associated paperwork related to each job function.
• Operate in all designated areas of the shop as assigned by supervision on an as-needed basis.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times in alignment with 5S standards.
• Use hand tools and powered equipment to grind, sand, and polish parts to required specifications.
• Handle small, delicate parts carefully while using standard measuring equipment to verify dimensions and quality.
• Apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
• Work within clearly defined procedures and under close supervision to complete prescribed tasks.
• Lift, move, and position parts and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for production activities.
• Drive and operate a forklift when required, following all safety guidelines and shop procedures.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Entry-level experience, with little or no prior relevant work experience required.
• Ability to acquire basic skills needed to perform routine operator tasks in a production environment.
• Acceptable aptitudes and communication skills to understand instructions and collaborate with team members.
• Near and far vision of 20/30 in both eyes, corrected or uncorrected, with specific abilities for close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Manual dexterity to handle small, delicate parts while simultaneously using standard measuring equipment.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Strong communication and cooperation skills to work effectively within a supervised team environment.
• Capability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to drive and operate a forklift safely in a shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with deburring, grinding, sanding, polishing, and related finishing processes.
• Comfort using hand tools for deburr and finishing operations.
• Basic knowledge or willingness to learn use of height gages.
• Ability to use or learn digital calipers for accurate measurement.
• Ability to use or learn pi tape for measuring round components.
• Ability to use or learn micrometers for precision dimensional checks.
• Training or willingness to train on polishing and deburr techniques.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a bench grinder.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a bead blaster.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a disc sander.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a belt sander.
• Comfort working under close supervision and within clearly defined procedures.

Work Environment

This role is based in a shop environment on an afternoon shift from approximately 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The noise level is typically moderate, and you will work around production equipment such as grinders, sanders, bead blasters, and measuring tools. The position requires frequent lifting and moving of materials up to 50 pounds and involves close visual work with small parts. Steel-toed or composite-toed shoes are required as part of the dress code, and forklift operation may be part of daily activities. Work is guided by clearly defined procedures, with close supervision and a strong emphasis on maintaining a clean, organized workspace in line with 5S principles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $54080.00/yr. Medical Dental Vision Life and AD&D Insurance Disability insurance
