Job Description:

The Registered Nurse will provide care in a mixed acuity unit with both Intermediate Care and Tele/MedSurg responsibilities. The nurse will work with a variety of patient types including direct admits, ED admits, post Cath Lab, and cardiac patients. This role requires working in a dynamic environment with a focus on cardiac procedural recovery, rhythm interpretation, and medication management.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care to patients with MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, Dysrhythmia management, and pacemaker issues.
• Perform post-cardiac care for patients with vascular procedures, open heart surgery, and pacemaker insertion.
• Work as a backup stroke unit and manage medical overflow.
• Ensure proper cardiac monitoring and coordination with tele techs.

Requirements:

• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of 1.5 years general nursing experience and 1 year specific to PCU.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• PCU level RN skills, including experience with cardiac procedural recovery and medication management.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
