Senior Tax Attorney

New York, NY Premier, full service, law firm is actively searching for a tax attorney, preferably at the partner level, and with at least 12 years of experience (more is preferred). The position requires a broad range of experience in tax and corporate matters that arise in the course of representing middle market companies and high net worth individuals. While portable business would be a positive, it is not a requirement since the primary need is for a person who has the required level of experience to handle the ongoing workflow. Note, however, that business generation is an opportunity for a “service” partner to earn additional compensation, with the firm paying, on a monthly basis, a percentage of collected originations across all practice areas. Depending on experience, skill set, qualifications, pedigree, etc., base compensation could be anywhere from $225,000.00-$325,000.00, plus bonus. There is no set billable hour requirement. The ideal candidate will have handled, or will have a strong working knowledge of, the following types of matters: Corporate Tax Entity formation Entity funding Acquisition or sale of all or part of a company M&A support Public and private company work Startups Fund formation work Business succession planning International Tax Cross-border transactions US companies with foreign operations Foreign companies with US operations Partnership Tax Tax Litigation Tax litigation can be in Tax Court, Federal District Court or the Court of Federal Claims, or it may be criminal in the event of tax fraud Real Estate Transactions Structuring transactions Purchase and sale of properties 1031 REIT Opportunity Zones State and Local Tax Sales tax issues Individual Income Tax Audits Controversies and settlements Estate Planning Estate and gift tax Tax-Exempt Organizations Establishment and maintenance Compensation: $225,000.00-$325,000.00, plus bonus.
