The target hiring range for this role is $21.42- $24.02A day in the life of an ACU ACCOUNTANT I:Prepare assigned general ledger reconciliations, retain appropriate supporting documentation, research reconciling items, and ensure exceptions are resolved or escalated within established timeframes.Prepare accurate and timely daily and monthly accounting reports and complete assigned daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities within established close and reporting deadlines.Assist in month-end close proceduresEnsure accurate accounting for the fixed asset and prepaid asset portfolios. Prepare depreciation schedules and catalog furniture, fixtures, and equipmentPerform accounts payable processingPrepare routine journal entries with complete and accurate supporting documentation.Recognize and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accountsWork with Controller and other Accounting staff to prepare for annual external audits and NCUA examinationsRespond to accounting-related questions from branches and departments, research transaction discrepancies, and provide accurate guidance or route matters to the appropriate resource.Provide exceptional service to all members, volunteers, staff, and service providersFollow established internal controls, approval requirements, and documentation standards.Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, consistent with the general scope and level of the position.Education:Minimum associate degree or 2-year vocational certificate or equivalent accounting experience.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and PracticesProficient using computers and software including Symitar, Excel, Microsoft Word, 10-Key calculator, and other office equipment.Attention to detailAbility to problem solve and research when necessaryKnowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and proceduresMust have excellent interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well organizedAbility to work well under pressureAbility to communicate clearly both orally and in writingAbility to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential informationIntermediate mathematical and account skillsACU is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Disability/Veteran employer.
