Job Details Location: Cumberland – CUMBERLAND, MD 21502 Salary Range: $32.00 - $38.00 Hourly Position Summary Under the supervision of the Nursing Director and in concert with Friends Aware’s policies and procedures and Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations, the Registered Nurse delivers required medical services and implementation of health policies; coordinates the health program of all assigned individuals; trains and supervises staff in delegated nursing duties; assists in creating a positive, supportive environment for consumers and staff; maintains a positive and professional attitude; and adheres at all times to the policy of confidentiality governing the areas of personnel and client information. Major Areas of Responsibility Will comply with the Maryland State Board of Nursing Practice Act. Will contribute to the nursing process in a team relationship in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act to promote the health and safety of persons served. Assessment – the act of gathering and identifying data about the client that assists the nurses, the client, and the client’s family to identify the client’s problems and needs. Evaluation – the review and analysis of the extent to which the assessment, planning, and implementation were effective in resolving the client’s health problems. Planning Nursing Care – the setting of goals, judging of priorities, and designing of methods to solve identified client problems. Implementation – the carrying out of the nursing plan of care. Will ensure that all physicals, medical histories, medical appointments, lab work, procedures and reports are completed for all assigned persons served as required by the policies and procedures of Friends Aware, Inc. and the regulations specified by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene of the state of Maryland and the Nurse Practice Act. Will oversee and ensure proper implementation of physician’s orders for the assigned persons served. Will participate as part of the Interdisciplinary Team for all assigned persons served and will keep team members informed of all pertinent medical information concerning the assigned persons served. Will provide and ensure the completion and review of medical records and documentation for all persons served. Will ensure assessment at appropriate intervals of no greater than 45 days of all assigned persons served. Will assist in health-related consultations and procedures. This includes the transporting of assigned persons served to physicals, initial consults and other important medical consultations as needed/requested. Will monitor chronic health problems of assigned persons served. Will ensure timely and efficient dissemination of all physicians' orders, laboratory and diagnostic studies and medical consultations. Will be available for 24‑hour on call for emergencies. Will work with the team in obtaining all necessary medical consents for assigned persons served. Will work with the Behavior Program Coordinator to ensure continuity with regards to the development of behavior programs, monitoring for changes in behavior and monitoring for effects of psychotropic medications. Will complete staff observation/ monitoring of medication administration and delegated nursing functions. Will monitor health records. Will ensure that medically based trainings are provided as indicated to meet specialized needs of persons served as qualified. Will successfully complete in‑service requirements and meet renewal schedules. Will perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Position requires the incumbent to work flexible hours. Evening and weekend hours are necessary to complete duties. Incumbent is required to be on call 24 hrs for medical emergencies and to respond to all health‑related emergencies. Qualifications Registered Nurse degree from an accredited school of nursing. Licensed in the State of Maryland by the Board of Examiners of Nurses. Preference given to those with experience working with the developmentally disabled. Experience in developing and delivering training programs. Problem analysis and decision‑making skills. Knowledge of and strong application skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point) and an ability to learn and effectively use other software applications within agency‑designated timeframe. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple complex tasks in a highly pressured and constantly changing environment. Ability to read and interpret regulations. Desire, ability and temperament to effectively work with peers, employees, consumers and outside entities. Must have the flexibility and access to transportation to travel independently. Valid driver’s license with fewer than three (3) points. #J-18808-Ljbffr
