Event Coordinator & Development Specialist Organization: Fort Bend Women’s Center Department: Development & Community Engagement Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Fort Bend Women’s Center is seeking an organized, creative, and relationship-focused Event Coordinator & Development Specialist to support the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, community outreach, and special events. This position offers an opportunity to combine event planning, fundraising, communications, and relationship management in support of a meaningful mission. The successful candidate will help create memorable events, strengthen relationships with donors and sponsors, engage community partners and volunteers, and support initiatives that generate financial and community support for the Fort Bend Women’s Center. The Event Coordinator & Development Specialist will be responsible for coordinating fundraising and community events from planning through follow-up, supporting sponsorship and donor engagement efforts, maintaining development records, assisting with fundraising campaigns and grants, and representing the organization throughout the community. Key Responsibilities Event Planning & Coordination Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising, donor, community, and awareness events. Develop event timelines, budgets, checklists, schedules, and logistics plans. Coordinate venues, vendors, caterers, entertainment, speakers, volunteers, and event materials. Manage event registration, guest lists, invitations, communications, and post-event follow-up. Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and guests during events. Assist with event themes, programs, promotional materials, and attendee experiences. Monitor event expenses and help ensure events remain within approved budgets. Conduct post-event evaluations and document recommendations for future improvements. Development & Fundraising Support annual fundraising campaigns and other development initiatives. Assist with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospective donors. Coordinate corporate and community sponsorship opportunities. Maintain accurate records of donors, sponsors, prospects, and community partners. Coordinate donor acknowledgments, thank-you communications, and stewardship activities. Assist with grant research, application materials, reporting, and deadline tracking as assigned. Support fundraising appeals, peer-to-peer campaigns, special initiatives, and other revenue-generating activities. Research potential corporate, foundation, and community funding opportunities. Assist in preparing presentations, sponsorship packets, donor communications, and other development materials. Community Engagement & Relationship Management Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, community organizations, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community leaders. Represent the Fort Bend Women’s Center at community events, networking opportunities, and other outreach activities. Support initiatives that increase awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, and impact. Identify opportunities for community partnerships, collaborations, and sponsorships. Assist with volunteer recruitment, communication, and coordination related to events and development activities. Communications & Administration Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to promote events, campaigns, and fundraising initiatives. Draft professional emails, invitations, sponsorship communications, newsletters, and other donor- and community-facing materials. Maintain organized event and development files, calendars, contact lists, and tracking documents. Track sponsorship commitments, donations, event expenses, and other development-related information. Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for leadership as requested. Maintain accurate information in donor management, CRM, event registration, email marketing, and other organizational systems. Qualifications Required & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, business, hospitality, or a related field preferred. Two or more years of experience in event planning, fundraising, development, nonprofit work, marketing, community engagement, or a related field preferred. Strong organizational and project-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with donors, sponsors, businesses, volunteers, and community partners. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, event-management platforms, or nonprofit fundraising software is a plus. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of organizational events. Commitment to the mission and values of the Fort Bend Women’s Center.
