Business Systems Analyst – Investment Data PlatformLocation: Richmond, VA Work Arrangement: Hybrid Duration: Approximately 12 months, with potential for extension Local Candidates: Candidates local to the Richmond, VA area are requiredAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to support the evaluation and implementation of a new investment data platform within a data-intensive financial services environment.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business and process analysis, requirements gathering, data analysis, process improvement, and software testing. This role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to assess current-state processes and systems, define future-state capabilities, and support successful implementation and adoption of the new platform.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with business stakeholders to document current-state processes, systems, and data flows.Identify process gaps, risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and working sessions to gather and analyze business requirements.Translate business needs into clear and actionable business and technical requirements.Support the definition of future-state workflows, processes, and operating models.Develop an understanding of existing applications, data architecture, integrations, interfaces, and system dependencies.Create and maintain documentation including requirements, process maps, workflows, current-state assessments, future-state designs, and data flow diagrams.Support data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and data quality activities.Develop and execute testing strategies, test cases, and scenarios, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Partner with business and technical teams to identify, document, and resolve defects and data issues.Support change management, user adoption, and transition activities.Provide ongoing support through data analysis, reporting, issue resolution, and process refinement.Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.7+ years of experience in business systems analysis, requirements gathering, process improvement, and testing.Strong experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business and technical requirements.Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and UAT strategies.Experience creating technical documentation, including requirements, process maps, workflows, and data flows.Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical teams.Must be local to Richmond, VA and able to work in a hybrid environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with SQL and/or Python for data analysis and validation.Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS.Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or other RPA tools.Experience in investment management, asset management, financial markets, or financial services.Experience with investment data, enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, or complex system integrations.Experience supporting enterprise technology implementations or data transformation initiatives.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on Business Systems Analyst who can effectively bridge business and technology teams. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing complex processes and data, facilitating stakeholder discussions, translating business needs into actionable requirements, and supporting projects through implementation, testing, and stabilization.Experience in financial services, investment data, data platforms, or enterprise technology implementations is highly desirable
