SENIOR CLOUD ENGINEER Job Number: 416802-1 Department: Department of Technology and Innovation, IT Support Positions: 1 Location: 2 N. Lasalle, Suite#1010, Chicago, IL 60602 Shift: Monday‑Friday Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Flexible) Responsibilities Research, design, develop, run tests, evaluate systems that support cloud implementation. Plan and conduct technical tasks associated with the implementation and maintenance of enterprise shared infrastructure. Develop and execute cloud solution roadmaps. Participate in agile team activities, produce product increments for solution features/components. Work with agile teams and product analysts to gather requirements for transitioning existing business functions and IT services to cloud‑based environments. Develop time and cost estimates for cloud solutions. Strategically forecast cloud computing expenses for accurate budgeting. Evaluate technical requirements for projects and products and determine impacts of cloud technologies on infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements. Determine cloud systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Create the physical design for cloud‑based solutions for infrastructure and platforms. Coordinate with Security staff to ensure solutions support security environment and align with business and IT strategies. Plan and validate installation, configuration, and maintenance of cloud architecture. Troubleshoot, diagnose, document, and resolve escalated support problems. Support innovative efforts by driving creativity, acting with agility, and thinking outside current boundaries. Evaluate services from vendors and recommend changes. Participate in Agile Release Train (ART) events as required. Additional duties may be required. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or related field. Minimum three (3) years of work experience in systems administration, networking, database management, network engineering or administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must provide detailed educational background and work experience (job titles, dates, job duties). Current City employees must not apply with Acting Up status. Desired Skills Certifications or deep knowledge in one or more major cloud provider: Azure, AWS, GCP, or OCI. 5 or more years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Architecture roles. Prior operational experience with Cloud Service Providers. Strong understanding of Cloud Governance. Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
