Greenpoint Landfill Laborer

The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill. Essential job functions include inspecting materials and sorting items into piles for the Equipment Operator, directing customers on where to safely dump their debris, pulling metal and lead items from disposal piles, monitoring pile sizes, removing recyclable items not suitable for landfill disposal, following standard operating procedures, reporting safety factors, and attending safety/operations meetings. Other responsibilities include attending corporation-sponsored training courses, staying updated on current technology, and performing additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications include the ability to follow safe operating practices, use interpersonal skills for good customer service, work in a team environment, and read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments. Special considerations include the ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climb steps, and reach overhead, as well as walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, and lifting. Sufficient stamina for a steady work pace throughout the day and the ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by the company are also required. The work environment includes a variety of conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind, noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust.
