Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating and highly qualified 7th/8th Grade Math Teacher to join our team. JOB TITLE: 7TH/8TH MATH TEACHERSCHEDULE: 2026-27 School Year – Full-timeWAGE: $57,201 - $95,492* (Starting wage dependent on education and experience) *NCSOTA Certificated Salary Schedule Step 1, Class II - Step 20, Class V 25/26 Nevada City School of the Arts' mission is to cultivate an equitable learning environment where every student is inspired to achieve academic excellence, develop a positive identity, and build productive relationships, through a rich, arts-integrated education. For more information about the NCSA mission, model, and team, please visit our website at SUMMARY: The middle school teacher provides an enriched activities-based program for middle school students in a manner that nurtures and guides them, with great consideration for the needs of each individual child and the class as a whole, while supporting the vision & mission of NCSA. Utilizing an inquiry-based methodology is ideal.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstruct students in middle school grades based on the NCSA standards and CA Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in Math for the purpose of supporting students' engagementDevelop an engaging and inspiring math curriculum, integrating the arts, academics and social justice in coordination with NCSA's professional arts, music and movement teachersParticipate in a team atmosphere with other middle school teachersProvide a level of instruction based on each student's achievement potential, by drawing on and valuing individual backgrounds, identities, interests, temperaments, development of social skills, through thorough lesson preparation, culturally responsive teaching and positive classroom managementPromote self-directed, reflective learning for all students by engaging students in identity awareness, problem solving, critical thinking and other activities that make subject matter meaningfulEstablish and Articulate goals for student learning through the design and implementation of both short- and long-term classroom projects with a focus on equity and antiracismFairly Assess students' progress, allowing multiple ways for students to show their learning, in order to inform instruction and document curriculum taught and masteredAttend monthly Team meetings, scheduled in-service days, assigned committee meetings, student success (SSTs) teams, I.E.P. meetings, class performances and other events where faculty attendance is important (e.g., Graduation, Back to School Night, Portfolio Night) as noted in the school activity calendarWork Cooperatively with Special Education staff to ensure that neuro-diverse learners are equitably educated, valued, and have a successful school experiencePrepare and Continue Upkeep of a culturally aware, organized, clean, and attractive classroom throughout the yearFoster healthy, supportive relationships with all colleaguesSupport the efforts of all support staff including electives teachers, visiting artists, and musicians. Support in this area includes assisting with classroom management and supervision of students when necessaryParticipate in teacher enrichment activities (when school funds allow). Especially those that focus on antiracism, equity, integrating art into the curriculum and promoting NCSA's missionOversee all aspects of class field studies including the budget and the training of chaperones Perform recess duty and after-school pickup duty as assigned by the directorProvide Report Cards two times per year (January and June). These reports will be both rubric-based and include a brief written narrativeCreate a Professional Development Plan at the beginning of evaluation years and collaborate with the School Director in the implementation of that planParticipate in staff development focused on agreed-upon areas of program/curriculum development Hold parent/teacher conferences and in November and March if necessary. Additional conferences will occur as deemed necessary by the teacher and/or Student Study Team Promote class community by organizing family gatherings for a class performance, celebration or by holding an introductory class parent meeting in September, and for all overnight field studies during the school yearCommunicate with parents through the weekly Monday Note, conferences, phone calls and email as neededParticipate as a faculty representative in areas of school governance or committees as neededSupport and administer statewide and other mandated testing/surveys to studentsArrange for substitute teachers through the office or directly with the visiting teacherAbide by all personnel policies and procedures adopted by NCSA and the At-Will AgreementAccept other duties as assignedWORKING CONDITIONS EnvironmentIndoor/outdoor work environmentDriving a vehicle to conduct work Physical Demands (with or without reasonable accommodations)Occasional lifting and carrying (maximum 50 lbs.)
