Senior Medical Science Liaison

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Medical Science Liaison based in the United States.

This is a field-based medical affairs leadership role supporting oncology programs across a defined regional territory.
You will serve as a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals, investigators, and external experts in Immuno-Oncology.
The role combines deep clinical expertise with strategic territory planning, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will contribute to clinical development activities, research initiatives, and the generation and communication of scientific insights.
Your work will help shape meaningful relationships with key opinion leaders and support evidence-based understanding of emerging therapies.
The position offers significant autonomy in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where scientific rigor and patient impact are highly valued.
With substantial field travel, you will play a visible role in connecting external oncology communities with internal medical and development teams.

Accountabilities:

• Develop, execute, and continuously refine high-impact territory and healthcare professional engagement plans aligned with medical and scientific objectives.
• Build and maintain trusted, customer-centric relationships with external experts, investigators, and key healthcare professionals in Immuno-Oncology across the assigned geography.
• Support clinical development and research initiatives, including site identification and evaluation, patient recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert engagement, and investigator-sponsored research activities.
• Provide scientifically rigorous education on disease states, treatment landscapes, clinical data, and relevant therapies throughout the product lifecycle.
• Attend and monitor relevant scientific meetings and conferences, translating emerging developments and external insights into actionable internal perspectives.
• Maintain strong knowledge of oncology market trends, scientific developments, therapeutic areas, and evolving treatment paradigms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute account plans supporting shared scientific and business objectives.
• Participate in medical affairs activities such as advisory boards, roundtables, masterclasses, team meetings, and other organizational initiatives.
• Serve as a credible scientific representative within the oncology community while supporting broader clinical development and pipeline priorities.
• Manage multiple priorities, sensitive information, and time-critical activities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

Requirements:

• Doctoral degree in a health sciences discipline such as MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent; significant clinical or industry oncology experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
• At least 5 years of solid tumor oncology experience, with experience in gastrointestinal, bladder, or renal cell tumors particularly valued.
• 5+ years of clinical, scientific/research, pharmaceutical, or related industry experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison.
• Previous pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience within a relevant scientific discipline is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze, and communicate complex scientific concepts and clinical data clearly and credibly.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with prominent healthcare professionals and scientific experts.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities, with the ability to independently translate organizational needs into actionable plans.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, demanding, and collaborative environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Strong computer and database skills, including proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications; experience with electronic document management and review tools is desirable.
• Ability to meet healthcare industry representative credentialing requirements, which may include background checks, drug screening, and proof of required immunizations or vaccinations.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, up to approximately 75% of the time.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Benefits:

• Base salary range of $200,000-$235,000 USD , with actual compensation determined by experience, skills, certifications, and work location.
