The Pulmonary Medicine Stepdown/Intermediate Care (Unit 7800) is comprised of 28 beds , including 6 ventilator beds . Our patient population includes Advanced Lung Diseases (ALS), Pulmonary Hypertension, Cystic Fibrosis, Pre and Post Lung Transplant, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, and various medical diseases affecting all body systems. Department Highlights Low nurse-to-patient ratios, 1:3-4 Only Adult Stepdown Unit at Duke University Hospital caring for ventilator patients Coaching Program supports new grads in their first year Unit offers Social Committees with Game Nights and Resiliency Monthly Meetings with paid attendance High retention; pathway to Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse III/IV, and internal ICU transfers Work Schedule Three 12-hour shifts; 36 hours per week (full-time) Rotating Day and Night Shifts What You Will Do As a Clinical Nurse in Duke University Health System, you will plan and provide professional nursing care in accordance with medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. You will provide nursing services to patients and families as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
