We don’t expect you to master a new company, new systems, and complex claim processes on your own.

For your first three months, you’ll work onsite at our Colorado Springs campus. You’ll receive hands-on training, focused coaching, and support from experienced teammates and leaders as you learn the role and build confidence in USAA’s claims environment. Once you successfully complete onboarding, you’ll transition to a flexible hybrid schedule requiring three days each week in the office.

This position is based in Colorado Springs. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

What You’ll Do

• Manage complex auto claims from initial investigation through resolution, including multi-vehicle accidents, coverage disputes, disputed liability, comparative negligence, physical damage, and total loss.
• Investigate and evaluate claims by analyzing policy language, statements, evidence, damages, and applicable laws to make timely, well-supported coverage, liability, and settlement decisions.
• Evaluate and negotiate first- and third-party physical damage claims within established settlement authority.
• Use Guidewire ClaimCenter, investigation resources, digital collaboration tools, and data-informed insights to document decisions and advance claims efficiently.
• Proactively manage an assigned claims inventory by prioritizing work, anticipating next steps, maintaining documentation discipline, and driving each claim toward timely resolution.
• Deliver exceptional service through empathy, proactive communication, clear expectations, and ownership while effectively navigating difficult claim situations.
• Collaborate with managers, appraisers, technical resources, and business partners to resolve complex issues and create a seamless experience for members and claimants.
• Support workload surges and catastrophe-response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and holiday work outside normal business hours.
• Travel or deploy with minimal notice during designated catastrophe events and perform additional duties based on business needs.

What You Have

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Experience handling auto physical damage claims, including repair related claim decisions and settlements.
• 3 years of recent auto claims adjusting experience, including handling auto liability claims involving coverage investigations, disputed liability, and comparative negligence.
• Experience independently managing an assigned auto claims inventory from investigation through resolution.
• Acquisition and maintenance of required insurance adjuster licensing within 90 days and three attempts.
• Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required.

What Sets You Apart

• 4 years of recent auto claims adjusting experience, including auto liability claims involving coverage investigations, disputed liability, and comparative negligence.
• Total loss experience, including vehicle valuation and settlement negotiation.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or serving as a technical resource to other claims professionals.
• Active adjuster's license or multiple state adjuster licenses.
• Guidewire Claim Center experience.
• Bachelor's degree.
• US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $59,760 - 100,850
