Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Trauma General Surgery Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Weekend Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Must have Epic experience Level 1 trauma experience 1:6 ratio experience Description: This position is for a nursing role in a trauma and general surgery inpatient unit. The unit is nationally recognized for its bariatric surgery services. It is a high-impact, fast-paced environment that deals with complex patient-care issues. Registered nurses will encounter a variety of patient conditions and care modalities. Experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, traumatic injuries, and chest tubes is necessary. Knowledge of respiratory support, traumatic brain injuries, and complex spinal cord injuries is essential. Nurses will work collaboratively with care management and medical services. The nursing staff will observe a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 for floor patients and 1:3 for stepdown patients. This role also includes floating to similar units as required. Weekend work is mandatory every other weekend or two weekends in a four-week schedule. Holiday work might be necessary as per the permanent staff holiday schedule.
