Job Description

School Health Assistant II is considered full-time at 6½ hours per day. Salary Range: $2,549.00 per month

Examples of duties include administering emergency first aid care to ill or injured students, taking temperatures, permitting students to rest in the health room as necessary, and periodically observing and talking to students to determine symptoms of illness. Other duties may include administering oral and topical medications, contacting parents or guardians of ill or injured students, calling for ambulance service in emergencies, performing health-related screening tests on students, completing appropriate records, making visual surveys of school buildings and grounds, giving basic health instruction to students, maintaining a clean health room, providing resource information to school staff, and advocating a positive and informative health and wellness program for the school.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic education requirements include possession of a high school diploma, or equivalent, which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and apply written instructions; and a high degree of verbal skill. Experience requirements include one year of general experience involving working with people and two years of specialized experience demonstrating the possession of basic health knowledge and practices. Substitutions may include successful completion of a bachelor's or associate's degree in nursing or related field, a community college program in medical assisting, human service, practical nursing or similar curriculum, or formal course work in health and personal hygiene, child care and home management.

The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable. Payday

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
