It operates as a fully-accredited facility with over 1,100 employees and 500 physicians, offering a robust healthcare environment with 266 beds and 24/7 emergency services.Unit InformationUnit Name: Medical OncologyNumber of Beds: 33Patient Ratios: 1:6Staffing: Unit secretary on site from 7 AM - 11 PM; 3 CNAs for 33 patients; Charge RN on each shift; Clinical Manager and Director available.Type of Equipment: Electronic whiteboards, iPhones with iMobile, remote telemetry.Documentation System: MeditechScheduling Requirements: 36 hours per week and every other weekend as needed.Floating Policy: Travelers are the first to float.Patient Experience Requirements: Hourly rounds on day shift; 2-hour rounds after 9 PM.Certifications: BLS required.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality nursing care to patients within the Medical Oncology unit.Administer inpatient chemotherapy as per established protocols.Conduct patient assessments and develop nursing care plans.Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.Document patient care and progress accurately in the electronic health record.Engage in patient and family education to promote understanding of treatment and care plans.QualificationsRequired Skills: A patient-first attitude with a strong focus on compassionate care.Advanced Skills: Proficient in chemotherapy administration; ONS chemo training preferred.Certifications: Preferred specialty certifications include Med Surg, Palliative Care, and ONS.Dress CodeThe required uniform includes pewter (color) scrubs and white, in any combination.Awards and RecognitionRecognized as HCA Unit of Distinction in Medical Surgical Nursing (2018).Additional InformationThis unit is recognized as a designated Hospital of the Future, implementing frequent pilots of new technology and supplies, offering an innovative work environment for staff.
